It's very important to us where our flowers come from. Not only do our local growers pride themselves on producing the most sweet smelling divine flowers, but also sourcing seasonal flowers is better for the environment too.
We try wherever we can to also source organically grown flowers. More and more of the flowers that you will find in shops are grown in countries where workers often aren't paid a fair wage and can be exposed to harmful pesticides and fertilisers.
Imported flowers use up valuable water resources and fly on average 1,500 miles before they reach the shops, contributing to global warming.
It just doesn't make sense when you see what's possible to grow in the UK. That's why we always source as locally as possible and have created partnerships with local organic and other small scale growers near to Bristol and North Devon. When the seasons are on the cusp or where weather conditions are poor and we need to go slightly further afield, we endeavour to use European or fair trade suppliers with as low a carbon footprint as possible.
When in season we hand pick the flowers ourselves, so that we know that each bloom is in perfect condition. Often organic, these flowers are too delicate to be mass produced and so are truly special. We can even arrange for rare and unusual flowers to be grown specifically for an event, so that your special flowers bloom beautifully, just in time for the big day. It takes a bit of pre-planning, but does ensure the most wonderful bouquets...
